Vacation fun abounds in the city of Kissimmee (pronounced Ka sim' mee) which is rich in culture and beauty located in Central Florida. The city is central to many of the theme parks as close-by is Orlando, home of Disney. It recently was voted the fourth fastest growing city in the United States.


The area known as Kissimmee originally was not named such. It was originally founded in the mid 1800's and named Allendale. The name was changed when it was incorporated as a city in 1883. It is recorded in history that the name is a tribal word and was of Spanish origin for a mission that was named Atissimi and Cacema, thereby formulating the word Kissimmee.


Being central in location and not having the tourist attraction of one of Florida's sandy beaches, this Florida vacation spot grasps at its great water parks which can acclaim to some of the largest water slides in the United States. With its warm temperatures, you can often see lines of people waiting to ride the slides or slowly cruise down in tubes on some of the water adventures.

Close by, you also have the entertainment of going into Orlando to Universal's City Walk which houses great cafes and clubs or go to Disney World's Pleasure Island.
